Habits of A Successful Woman in Christ

Hey Girl,

Being a woman is hard work. We are called to be caretakers, nurturers, friends, mothers, sisters, counselors and protectors among so many other things. In the midst of all of these rolls we play, we are expected to be strong, wise, look good and be patient with others. This is so much easier said than done because things can get messy, fast! Sometimes we become overwhelmed and stressed out because of all the things we are required to do. We find ourselves on the edge ready to lose our marbles and give up. Although it can be hectic, I don't want you to give up just yet. I've been there, done that and own several t-shirts. But I have some solutions! I have come up with some things that, when done even in very small measures at first, can have a great impact in your life. I've come up with 5 habits that I believe any women who is successful in Christ has. This is not a list of EVERYTHING you'll need, but I believe these 5 can make a world of difference in your life, as they have in mine.

Spend Time With the Lord

A successful woman in Christ is one who enjoys her quality time with the Lord. She doesn't "make" time for God, she has time set aside that is designated for worship, prayer and devotion. Whether in the morning, afternoon or evening, she finds herself before the throne of God. Before His throne, you find strength, clarity, understanding, balance, and peace. It is also important to establish a prayer life and relationship with God because others will look to you for clarity and guidance. When you say you are a "woman of God," it's important that you know His heart and can go before Him on behalf of anyone at any given moment. Just like a friend who you don't speak to regularly, it can be difficult to go to God when you haven't been in communication with Him on a daily basis. Build and maintain your prayer life.

Spend Time Alone

Spending time alone is one of the most rejuvenating and peaceful things a woman can do next to spending time with the Lord. Experiencing the serenity of alone time allows you to refocus, re-evaluate and reclaim your strength. There are so many things that occur in our lives from day to day, having some time to reflect is essential. A successful woman in Christ is one who doesn't have to constantly be surrounded by people to be at peace. She enjoys, respects and embraces alone time. Light some candles, take a bubble bath, read a good book, watch a nice movie or simply sit in a quiet room with worship music playing in the back ground. You'll be surprised how comforting these things can be.

Write it Down

Writing things down is important for many different reasons. Keeping a diary, prayer journal or book of thoughts is a great way to look back and see how much your mindset changes over time, the progress you've made and see what goals you've accomplished. Another reason is because it's not good to keep things bottled up inside. Writing things down is also another, more responsible way of venting but prevents you from saying something to someone that you can't take back. It helps to jot down initial thoughts and clarify them before having a conversation or making a major decision.

Preparation is Key

Preparing for things before they come is an important part of everything. Prepare for your day the night before, prepare for a special presentation in advance, prepare for your destiny, prepare for your date, prepare to spend quality time with family, prepare for dinner. When you make preparation a habit, you will realize that it makes your experiences 10 times better than it would have been without it. I noticed that when I prepare for something and things don't go my way, It's easier for me to adjust to the sudden changes rather than trying to throw things together at the last minute and being surprised and upset when things change.

Use Wisdom

Taking heed to wisdom is what makes a successful woman in Christ maintain structure and sanity. Wisdom comes from the Lord through His word, sometimes He will even allow it to come through you, family, friends and mentors. Proverbs is one of the most painful yet beautiful books of the Bible. It pierces and bruises but also mends the very wounds it leaves. It is a brilliant book to read. If you are struggling with obtaining wisdom and/or don't recognize it when it comes, I encourage you to read the book of Proverbs and allow it to shape you.

I hope you enjoyed these habits and will take some or all of them into consideration. These are things that I have implemented in my life and have saw a significant change in my mindset, my life and my relationships. I love you so much sister in Christ.

XOXO,
