Waiting On The Lord

Hey Girl,

Sometimes waiting on the Lord can feel like the longest period of time in the world. We become anxious, impatient and sometimes even a little frustrated when things don't happen when we think they should. I think everyone either has or will at some point experience the curiosity as to why God seems to take "so long" in answering our prayers or fulfilling His promises. Fortunately, He reminds us in His word to wait patiently and trust in Him to fulfill His word in our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) says,  "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This is a sweet reminder that even in our time of waiting, the Lord is working things out on our behalves. I want to share 5 important things we must do while we're waiting on the Lord along with scriptures that remind us of these things.

1. Remain Faithful When things don't go our way, it can be so easy to throw a tantrum and get upset with God. We begin to question Him and wonder why and how things aren't going as planned. When we feel this way, it's important to monitor our attitudes towards God and remain faithful to Him, His word and the work He has called us to do. Let's say for example, you have asked God for a new car. You have one at the moment but you really want a new one. People left and right appear to be driving something new. yet you're still driving around in little old sally who's run down and loosing hope. In a situation like this, try maintaining a grateful heart and constantly thanking the Lord for what you have and what He's about to bless you with. Luke 16:10 (NLT) says, “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities."

2. Pray Without Ceasing

Prayer keeps us humble, consistent and level headed in situations like these. It's so important to remain prayerful while waiting on the Lord, it's also pretty difficult to have an attitude with God while in prayer or fresh out. The Bible says in Luke 18:1 that men should always pray and not faint. This means that even in our times of transition, misunderstanding, waiting, confusion, etc. we ought to be praying and seeking the Lord.

3. Keep Your Faith Alive The Bible says in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God. While you're waiting on the Lord to meet you in your situation and work things out for you, keep your faith in Him. Remind yourself that the Lord is going to work things out. Do not listen to negative people or  negative thoughts. Do not entertain doubt. Feed your faith with the word of God, encouragement, reminders of the Hope that is found in Jesus and inspiring testimony's of those who the Lord has come through for.

4. Entertain A Mindset of Peace Entertain peaceful thoughts. Remind yourself that it's already done. The Lord remind us in scriptures that He will keep us in perfect peace when our mind is stayed on Him. Elevate your mind on the promises of God. Think those things that are not as though they are, speak life to your situations and in your time of waiting, you will be dwelling in the peace of God.

5. Repeat After you've done these things, do them over and over and over again until you see the Lord work. Remember that these things should not be done to become "obsessed" with whatever you're waiting on, these are just a few tips to keep you inspired in your time of waiting. Keep in mind that they can also be done after you've received the blessings of God. Be encouraged and remember that the Lord promised that He would never leave you. Although sometimes it seems as though He has turned a deaf ear or has walked away, He said that He will never leave your side.

I love you and God loves you, God bless.

XOXO,

Farrah LaRae' Wynn
